Frequently Asked Questions

Private Soccer Lessons with a Trainer - New Players

Q: Who is allowed to do private lessons with a trainer?

A: All ages, positions, and levels are welcome to participate in customized soccer training sessions with a Certified Personal Soccer Trainer.

Q: How do I schedule a private lesson with a trainer in my city?

A: Click Here > select your state > click the trainer's picture to view his/her bio details > click the "Book Training" button to see the trainer's schedule for the upcoming 4 weeks > select the date and time you want to reserve > choose the "Create A New Profile" option - type in your name, email, password (then you will select "SetMore Login" for future reservations) > enter the player's name, bday, medical conditions, and training focus details > pay the $5 reservation fee to secure that appointment slot > you and the trainer will both receive an automated confirmation email > pay the trainer's $30-$60 cash fee at the session

NOTE: Catalyst Soccer administrators will not make appointments with trainers on your behalf

Q: How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?

A: View the confirmation email you received when the appointment was first made.  There are 2 buttons in that message for "Cancel" and "Reschedule".  Click the one you want and you will automatically be taken to the online reservation system to easily make changes. Or, click here to login into your SetMore account so you can view your list of reserved dates and manage your schedule.

Q: How late can I cancel, reschedule or book an appointment?

A: The online appointment system has a 24 hour block for making changes to the trainer/player's schedule.  If you need to cancel with less than 24 hour's notice you need to contact your trainer directly.  These late cancellations will not receive a refund for the $5 appointment fee paid online.  If you prepaid the trainer for a session that is being canceled late you ask him/her about their specific policy.  A new $5 appointment fee must be paid at the time of the new/make-up training session being booked.

Q: Why can't I see trainer availability past a certain date?

A: Trainers only list their openings for 4 weeks in advance so if you are looking for a certain date that is further than 1 month in the future it the system will not yet give you access to book it.

Q: How do I know which trainer I should choose?

A: Each trainer's profile gives you insight into the various elements that are important when deciding who is the right fit for you, but it's up to the player (or parent for youth players) to prioritize those elements.  Location, price, gender, background, etc are all elements to consider for you to get an optimal training experience.  If the trainer has their email listed on their profile feel free to contact them directly to ask specific questions that will aid you in deciding whether or not to train with that person.

Q: How and when can I communicate with a trainer?

A: Most trainers list an email in their profile and therefore are open to receiving inquiries directly from potential clients.  Trainers and players may choose to provide or withhold their phone number at their own discretion.  It is strongly encouraged that trainers and players who have not yet worked together should communicate prior to meeting at the first session to ensure everyone is on the same page about location, price, equipment, etc.

NOTE: Catalyst Soccer administrators will not contact trainers on your behalf to arrange training session details or resolve a dispute

Q: Why do trainers have different titles for their "certification level"?

A: All trainers start out with an initial title of a "Certified Personal Soccer Trainer".  As trainers satisfy their continued education workshop requirements, complete more and more custom training sessions, and receive high ratings from clients they are rewarded with the next "Advanced".  Catalyst Soccer encourages trainers to develop their expertise year after year through our progressively challenging education system so they may reach the higher "Master" and "Elite" trainer certification levels that enable them to be more proficient at developing all types of soccer players and open more significant career opportunities.

Q: Why do prices differ among trainers?

A: As trainers achieve higher certification levels they are deemed more qualified in a variety of topics and have proven to have a more successful track record for improving players; therefore, they are able to charge a higher rate.  Below is the price scale for the various trainer certification levels.  If a trainer offers a special discount or promotion those details will be stated on their profile and you can inquire with them directly about the reduced price.

Q: What is the appointment service fee?

A: Before a player can reserve an appointment with a trainer they must pay a $5 service fee online. This fee is received by the National Catalyst Alliance for its operational costs to provide the online appointment system, manage this website, and give trainers the support resources they need to provide players qith quality training services.  You are also helping your trainer reach higher levels of status as a Certified Personal Soccer Trainer by utilizing the online appointment system - called "SetMore" - to book each of your training sessions because one requirement for a trainer to be promoted is to complete a specified number of training hours.

Terms and Conditions:

If you reschedule the appointment to a new date/time the $5 fee will be applied to the new reservation.  If you cancel the appointment the $5 fee will be refunded to the card you first paid with.  If the trainer you want to book with is offering a special promotion, package deal, or discount then you must still pay the $5 fee to make the date/time reservation.  If you are unsatisfied with your trainer or training session the $5 appointment fee is still not refundable.

Q: How can I get a refund?

A: If a private lesson is canceled in advance of the original appointment time and a new date cannot be set to reschedule the session then Catalyst Soccer administrators will refund the $5 appointment fee once the trainer/player cancels the session in the SetMore system.  If a client is dissatisfied with their training session they must resolve that dispute directly with the trainer.  Catalyst Soccer administrators are not financially responsible for the performance or liability of private lessons.

Q: How do I access my SetMore account to view all appointments I have made?

A: Click here > click the "Login" button on the top right > choose the "SetMore Login" button > from here you can navigate your account to update personal information and manage your training schedule (click the "Forgot Password" link if you have trouble signing in)
