Frequently Asked Questions

Support for Certified Personal Soccer Trainers and Affiliates

Q: How should I determine the prices I charge for custom training services?

A: You may set any rate you wish.  After submitting your trainer profile you will receive an email from a Catalyst Soccer administrator with the suggested prices you should charge based on your credentials.  Keep in mind that a $5 deposit per player per appointment will be charged online and deducted from your training price in order for the client to reserve the session.  You can offer special deals such as sibling, loyalty/renewal, military, and package discounts.  However, we recommend you keep it simple and focus on the short-term benefit for you and the client.  Complicated price structures become difficult for you to manage finances and long-term price scales become a problem if the client is not consistent with scheduling.  It is usually best to establish a relationship with a client before offering special deals.

Q: Why is a $5 deposit charged to my clients and deducted from my training rate?

A: The funds from this deposit are collected by Catalyst Soccer in order to cover the ongoing operational costs for providing the online appointment system, website hosting and content management, marketing and advertising your profile, and support resources to trainers.  This deposit is a mandatory payment and any attempt by the trainer or client to bypass it will result in the trainer's removal from the Catalyst Soccer platform.

Q: How do I claim my personal training income on my taxes?

A: It is best to consult a tax professional before completing your federal and state annual income tax filing.  For online IRS assistance you should view the IRS Forms for Sole Proprietorship, but for state assistance you will need to search that online.  Since you are not an employee or independent contract for Catalyst Soccer your federal IRS forms will typically fall under the 1040 category so review those sections using the above link to determine which forms best suits your situation and needs.

Q: What if a client asks to book an appointment without using the online scheduling system?

A: Explain the purpose of the deposit and that it is a mandatory condition of your involvement with Catalyst Soccer.  Also, discuss the importance of using the appointment system so both you and the client can receive rewards from Catalyst Soccer for completing high volumes of sessions (which can only be tracked if appointments are made within our system).  Lastly, emphasize the ease of use for both you and the client to track the training schedule in the online account because it is more difficult for you to manage multiple clients through multiple channels if their schedule is done via email/text and other clients are done in the system.  It can be hard to say No to a client, but hold your ground and most people will understand and accommodate the rules.  Anyone who threatens to not train with you over $5 is likely to try and cut corners with you in other areas too and will probably be inconsistent with schedule commitments because they will have no appointment deposit to feel accountable to.
